NEW BUSINESS

·        Street Tree Plan – Walker Meadows PUD – Boerger Rd., S.R. 38

Mrs. McCoy stated this Planned Unit Development is a bit different from the Village at Timber Lakes because the streets in Walker Meadows will be dedicated City streets where the Village at Timber Lakes is a condominium project with private streets.  Todd Farris stated they have chosen three different varieties of trees – Pioneer Elm, Red Sunset Maple and Red Oak to be on Walker Meadow Drive and Greenspire Linden to be on Walnut Lane (this street name will be changed).  It was noted the quantities of trees are required to be on the plant list.  Also noted was that the placement of trees will be required to be adjusted to accommodate utilities, street lights driveways, etc.  Mr. Adler stated this plan shows a good diversity for the subdivision with a good complement of trees.   It was noted that Hybrid elm variety would be permitted if Pioneer Elm is not available. The landscape plan was approved pending changes to the drawings as noted.  Changes need to be submitted for final approval.

OLD BUSINESS

·        Revised Landscape Plan – Kinetico at Coleman Crossing

After a closer evaluation of street tree spacing, it was noted that six trees are required on E. 5th Street based on 50’ intervals – starting with tree on west side of property towards the west property line.  If six trees are planted on the street, one tree on site can be eliminated.

Commission members agreed to the need to be consistent with 50’ on center to assure future compliance with new commercial lots in this subdivision.

Change site data to street trees required 7; shown 7

Change size 18” to container size of 2 gallons or larger

·        Arbor Day Activities 2004

Barb McCoy reported she had not been able to contact the Union County Recycling Program and has not gotten a response from the Mayor if he has any specific ideas or plans to change from previous Arbor Day activities.  Tentative date set for April 26 with the assumption that at least three locations in parks will be where trees will be planted.  Newspaper will be contacted and proclamation to be signed by Mayor.

Shade Tree is pleased that the City of Marysville continues to support TREE CITY USA. The committee commends them on their large commitment to invest in the community and citizens of Marysville.

Committee would like to have another member added to our group.  A member with a background in landscape horticulture would be preferred to help balance the loss of recent expertise.  The Shade Tree Commission would like continued support and looks forward to appointment from council for its new member.

Shade Tree Commission values Joe Tracey’s input and participation as a non-voting member.

ADJOURNMENT:
