MINUTES OF MEETING OF AUGUST 18, 2004

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Dennis DeWeese, David Burke, Barb Bushong and Kevin Behrens.  John Hoffman, Barry Adler and Chad Morse were excused.

OTHERS PRESENT:  Barb McCoy, Dana Clay, John Willis, Garry Gandre and Mike Epp

Secretary Barb McCoy called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The minutes from the meeting of July 21, 2004, were approved.

REPORT OF SECRETARY:  It was reported that two agenda items would be postponed until the September meeting due to three members not being present.  Mrs. McCoy also reported landscape inspections for HER Realty, Marysville Ambulatory Center, Marysville Housing IV, and Karen’s Catering being done with all in compliance except Karen’s Catering.

COMMENTS BY CITIZENS:  Mike Epp, former Shade Tree Commission member, was present.  He stated the Ivory Silk Lilacs on London Avenue appear to be turning yellow.  However, he has been in several other cities around the state and has found the trees are doing the same there.  Versailles, Ohio has a wonderful downtown area with lots of trees/landscaping.  Has seen good results with the landscape ordinance.  Still concerned over the Wal-Mart store and hopes future big boxes will not result in the same.

City Street employee Dana Clay stated many of the trees on Milridge in the Milford Estates subdivision have died and would like to see them replaced.  It was agreed he should contact Barb McCoy whenever he sees problem areas.
