Firefighters
Participate in Charity Event |
|
Marysville
Firefighters and their families participated in the Annual
Cystic Fibrosis Battle of the Badges stair climb, at the Rhodes
Tower in Columbus, on February 27th. This is the fourth
year we have participated in this event. Marysville was
represented by 18 firefighters and their families. |
|
 |
|
The event
includes firefighters climbing 40-stories in all of their
protective clothing, breathing through their self-contained
breathing apparatus. The entire ensemble weighs
approximately 50 pounds. This competition raises money and
awareness for the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and is
on the several non-profit fundraising events Marysville
firefighters support. |

Marysville Moose
Lodge Makes Presentation |
|
On December 10, 2009 the Marysville
Moose Lodge presented the Marysville Fire Department, Marysville
Police Department, and the Union County Sheriff with several
boxes of "Tommy Moose" stuffed animals.
Since 2002, more than 75,000 Tommy
Moose plush dolls have been presented, free of charge, by Lodges
and Chapters of the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose
to police departments, fire departments, and paramedic/ambulance
units all over North America.
The concept is simple: With
several "Tommy" dolls always on hand in an emergency vehicle,
public-safety personnel have a soft, comforting companion handy
to give to a child who is suddenly facing an otherwise
overwhelming trauma--be it an automobile accident, a house fire,
a weather disaster, or other calamity. |

B104.3 Hometown
Heroes |
|
B104.3 did a 4-hour live radio
broadcast from the Marysville Fire Department on December 10,
2009 as part of the "Hometown Hero Tour". Pictured above
are Marysville's Hometown Heroes: Dan Fitzgerald and Dave
Laslow, representing the Union County "Care Train". For
almost two decades, Dave Laslow, long-time Marysville resident
and founder, has been working with kindhearted volunteers to
provide children and their families with food and gifts during
the holiday season. Built on a strong commitment of
serving and giving, the organization raises funds and collects
contributions to distribute to those in need throughout the
community. |

DIVISION INFORMATION |
|
The Marysville
Fire Department (Marysville Division of Fire) was organized in
1845. In 1952, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was
established and in 1973 Marysville became one of the first
communities outside the metropolitan Columbus area to institute
paramedic services. The Division of Fire has evolved
significantly since this time, into a largely full-time division
providing fire, Advanced Life Support (ALS) EMS, and technical
rescue services to the City of Marysville and several
surrounding contracted townships.
The Marysville Division of Fire
proudly protects 30,000 people living in an area of 86 square
miles. We operate out of one station that protects a
diverse area including residential, business, industrial and
agricultural uses. Our department is a public department
whose members are on a paid status. We have an ISO rating
of 4. The Marysville Division of Fire is composed of 28
full-time and, 15 part-time firefighters and one full-time
administrative assistant.
Of the 28 full-time firefighters,
two are chief officers and one Lieutenant and one firefighter
are permanently assigned to the inspection bureau. The
Division also employs one civilian as a full-time administrative
assistant. There is a heavy emphasis on organizational
excellence through both mandatory and voluntary training and
education. There is also a significant emphasis on mission
readiness and personal/professional development. Apparatus
in the Division is composed of one aerial tower, two engine
companies, one grass fighter, three ALS ambulances, and two rescue boats. |
