Mission/Vision
Statement |
|
Information Management provides vision and leadership
for the most effective and efficient retention, storage,
preservation and disposition of City records and the use and
maintenance of technology throughout the City. Information
Management strives to assist all departments and divisions in
analyzing record storage and retention needs as well as
technology needs and examines procedures to determine the most
cost effective solutions, while increasing productivity and
improving efficiency. |

Many of the city processes
rely on computers, software, and other information technologies.
The Information Technology (IT) division strives to maintain a
sound local area network (LAN), while ensuring the best possible
operating condition of our computers, printers, and software.
This is accomplished with a three-pronged approach:
|
-
Use of a local IT contractor: This
contractor provides maintenance support on a weekly basis,
is on-call for emergency situations, and provides valuable
technical expertise for future planning.
-
Use of Information Manager: By
cross-utilizing the City's Information Manager, the City is
able to provide many essential services to include server
maintenance and computer troubleshooting, software updates,
and training for employees, and website management for both
internal and external sites.
-
Management: The department director
works directly with other department and division heads to
ensure all systems are operational through the use of a
trouble outage process that includes an internal IT trouble
log. Management also works closely to ensure all
future system requirements are identified and included in
future operational budgets.
