Skate Park Rules of Etiquette |
||
|
Pre-emptive rule: If you can't even stand on you board/blades, practice in an empty parking lot, you DO NOT need a halfpipe or ramps to learn your most important skill, control. Once you can control yourself, stop, turn, roll, then you can use the skate park to advance your skills. 1st Rule: DO NOT STAND OR SIT ON THE RAMPS/BOXES. If you want to sit down, find a bench or any number of other places out of the way! 2nd Rule: Be aware of your surroundings. PAY ATTENTION! There are many other people in the park with you, know where they are and where they are headed. All you need to do is pick your head up and watch where your are going. This cannot be stressed enough. Most of the bad accidents at the park are not caused by missing a trick, the are from collisions that COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. 3rd Rule: Do not overstay your welcome on any one obstacle. We all know it's good practice and fun to pump the halfpipe transition for an hour, but there ARE other people at the park too. 4th Rule: If the pipe is crowded call your drop in. There's nothing worse than two guys dropping in at the same time trying to snake some poor third guy and watching them collide like a couple of angry Rams. These are all very easy and very basic ideas and rules. Free stylers do not like rules or boundaries, but would you rather have a separated shoulder or be at the park having fun? |
