Job Opening – Police Division
Part-Time Administrative Assistant
April 22 – May 23
($9.60 an hour)
Nature of Work: This is
an administrative clerk level classification requiring duties and
responsibilities in support of the Police Division Administration. Responsibilities include communications
(verbal and written) within the Police Division, public relations, tracking and
maintaining files, utilizing specialized computer programs, and general records
management and maintenance. The incumbent must also possess computer program
knowledge, transcribing interview tapes as needed, along with other basic
administrative duties. It is a part-time position as defined by City Policy
205, working no more than 35 hours per week, and no more than 1,039 hours per
year. The Civil Service Commission does not govern this part time position.
Job Requirements: Administrative assistant/secretarial
associates degree preferred, (Baccalaureate a plus) or minimum of 5 years
general secretarial experience. Must be
able to work independently, and be self-motivated and directed; multi-task
(phones, personnel, public, projects); transcribe from taped interviews; type
minimum of 40 words per minute and have extensive experience with computer
programs such as Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
Physical Requirements: Incumbent must meet the physical requirements
necessary to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties associated with
general office work.
