Heroin Investigation Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrests

As a result of a several month heroin investigation, the Marysville Division of Police has obtained Grand Jury Indictments against eighteen individuals.  Those individuals arrested will be held at the Tri-County Jail in Mechanicsburg, pending arraignment in Union County Common Pleas Court.

While the investigation was primarily directed at Heroin trafficking, the investigation also involved trafficking in other drugs such as marijuana and Oxycontin within the City of Marysville.  Investigators seized approximately 112 doses of heroin, along with a small amount of marijuana and Oxycontin.

Marysville Police investigators worked closely with Union County Prosecuting Attorney David Phillips in obtaining the indictments, and credit his office with helping make the arrests possible.  The division also acknowledges the work and cooperation of Director Steve Green and his staff at the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification crime lab in London.

Union County Prosecuting Attorney David Phillips credits the Marysville Police for their work.  "Heroin is a drug that destroys families and damages communities.  We've seen an influx of heroin into the area that has led to a rash of crime as addicts seek money to get their fix.  The investigation by the Marysville Police and the arrest of these alleged drug traffickers will, I hope, deter others from getting involved, and make our community a safer place to live."

Any questions regarding the investigation can be directed to Chief Floyd Golden at (937) 642-3900.
