Two individuals were recently
indicted on several felonies through a Union County grand jury
related to a robbery that occurred on March 17, 2010 at Dave’s
Pharmacy, 411 W 5th St. During the robbery a lone
female entered the business with a handgun in her waistband and
obtained 4 bottles of oxycontin from a pharmacist. Amanda D.
Freed, 23, of Mt. Vernon, Oh was charged with Aggravated Robbery
a 1st degree felony, Theft a 4th degree
felony, Kidnapping a felony of the 2nd degree,
Trafficking and Drug Possession, both 2nd degree
felonies and one count of Tampering w/ evidence, a 3rd
degree felony for her involvement in robbing the pharmacy.
Tammy M. Klien, 46, of W 9th St., Marysville, was
charged with complicity to Aggravated Robbery, Theft, and
Kidnapping as well as charges of Drug Possession and Tampering
with evidence for her involvement in driving the get away
vehicle and assisting in disposing of evidence. The indictments
also carry a firearm specification due to the use of a firearm
during the robbery and the forfeiture of property, a 2003 Dodge
truck, used in connection with the crime. The robbery was solved
with the assistance of the Mt. Vernon Police Department, which
had developed information on Freed being involved in a robbery
of a Little Ceaser’s pizza store in that jurisdiction. Further
information was revealed that Freed was also involved in a
pharmacy robbery around Marysville. Investigator’s from both
agencies worked together to link Freed to this robbery, and also
discovered Klein, Freed’s aunt, was an accomplice in the local
robbery. Freed is currently being held in the Knox County jail
on charges from that jurisdiction. Warrants are to be issued
today for both, with arraignments in Union County Common Pleas
Court set for October 31, at 11am. |

On Friday afternoon,
September 2, 2011, a suspicious person was seen photographing
children near Fawn Meadow and Creekview Drives. The
suspicious person was driving a newer, Black, 4-door vehicle
with an orange ball on the antennae. Anyone with

On Wednesday, 10/13/10, at
approximately 8:04pm an individual robbed the Corner Carryout
Drive Thru located at 537 S Maple Street. The suspect
approached the clerks inside the drive thru brandishing a
firearm and demanding cash. The clerk was struck in the
head with a semi auto pistol and an undisclosed amount of cash
was taken from the register. The suspect left on foot and
was not located. He was described as wearing a white
sweatshirt type of jacket, jeans and a black covering over his
head. The suspect is believed to be a male white,
approximately 18-25 years of age, stocky build and approximately
5'10". The victim was treated at Memorial Hospital of
Union County. Anyone with information regarding this crime
