The Marysville Division of
Police recently obtained a motorcycle to add to its fleet of
patrol vehicles. Recently purchased from Marysville Honda
Motorsports for approximately $10,000 was a new 2005 model
VTX1800N. The motorcycle was purchased with accessories
and necessary emergency equipment being obtained from various
aftermarket suppliers. The motorcycle was adapted for
police work through the efforts of Officer Craig Nicol, Sergeant
Ron Nicol and City mechanic Mick McCoy; who collectively added
the necessary equipment and completed all additional wiring for
the emergency set-up. The motorcycle was painted by Bob
Chapman Ford to match the other division vehicles and the
graphics were purchased through Associated Graphics in Plain
City.
The division expects the
motorcycle to be used for parades, special events, and for
traffic control and enforcement activities. Chief Floyd
Golden states, "We plan to utilize the motorcycle to patrol City
parks and effectively enforce speed limits in our
neighborhoods." With the ability of the unit to blend into
surroundings, problem areas will be targeted for enforcement in
an effort to promote compliance with local speed limits to
ensure the safety of our residents.
Specific training for
operation of the motorcycle has been scheduled and will be
completed by officers as it becomes available. Several
officers within the division hold motorcycle endorsements and
will be authorized to use the motorcycle.
Chief Golden further
commented that the division is proud to be able to display and
utilize a vehicle that was produced locally, by members of the
community. |
