The Marysville Division of Police has been instructing the D.A.R.E. program in the Marysville Exempted School District since the fall of 1990.

D.A.R.E. began in Los Angeles, CA in 1982 as a cooperative effort between the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Unified School District.  The "Core" or 5th and 6th grade program is now implemented in all 50 states and in over two dozen foreign countries.

The D.A.R.E. program is instructed by a full time Police Officer in uniform.  D.A.R.E. is not just a "drug" program but a life choices program.  D.A.R.E. touches on such issues as self-esteem, decision making, solving a disagreement (without fighting), and gangs.  D.A.R.E. does teach resistance techniques to drugs and violence and the 8 ways to say NO.

The current D.A.R.E. Officer for the Marysville Division of Police is Ptl. Josh Dillahunt.  If you would like to contact Ptl. Dillahunt, please call (937) 642-6015 x2032 or e-mail jdillahunt@marysvilleohio.org.
