NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Neighborhood Watch Defined:

Residents working in partnership with each other and the Police to protect and improve the quality of life in the City of Marysville through the following actions:

  • Becoming familiar with neighbors

  • Observing & reporting criminal or suspicious activity

  • Regular contact with police officers

  • Education in crime prevention & safety

  • Organized communication efforts

  • Problem solving on local issues

Neighborhood Watches Are Not:

  • Vigilante groups

  • Citizens pursuing criminals or becoming physically involved in events

  • Administering the law by yourself

Police Role in Neighborhood Watches:

  • Training in crime prevention

  • Support (Materials - Information)

  • Guidance (Organization - Technical Skills)

  • Leadership (Problem Solving & Encouragement)
