The Civil Service Commission enforces the civil service laws and regulations applicable to the city. This commission prescribes and enforces rules that are consistent with the City Charter for the classification of positions. This commission also conducts testing and hearing of appeals.

Opportunity to Serve

Marysville City Council is looking for a conscientious citizen who is eager to serve as a member of our Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is three members, each serving staggered 6-year terms. The Civil Service Commission is responsible for the administration of the Civil Service ordinances, laws and regulations related to testing, selection, promotion, demotion, discipline, removal and disposition of appeals. The Commissioners work hand-in-hand with the Human Resources Department regarding the hiring of Civil Service classified employees. Members are paid $50 for each meeting or event. The average number of annual events can range from 10-25. Most events take place weekday evenings. The term starts January 1, 2021 and ends December 31, 2026.
